NW, its gone NW!

... giving us the chance to steal out for a quick afternoon fish. Justin Beiber Fan Club wanted to go so we set out from Castor Bay. We headed across to Rangi Channel and set up for an awkward crabbing across the channel drift. We got into some pannies and then it all got too much...

Let me sleep, dad!

So we decided to go and see if any kingis were home. Number 1 buoy held fish, number 2 didn't, 3 & 4 were bare so we moved down to Rough Rock. Only for the harbour master to show up and drive right up to the marker, taking photos. And scaring the crap out of any fish in the process.

So we headed across to #11 and hooked up straight away. With wind and current going together, the fight was long and protracted, again and again the fish charged upstream towards the marker. Then Henschel sung. Its a beautiful reel.

JBFC grabbed the camera and pushed the buttons. She got some good shots too! And some not so good...

Finally I got the net under a reasonable rat and landed it.

One of the new Mega Mushies did the trick.

Even though the breeze was offshore, it was still lumpy out there. We pulled the pin at 4.30 to get JBFC home for her dinner. When we arrived back at Castor Bay, another swoffer was on the rocks casting.

Somehow in the afternoon's events, i managed to break my camera housing. Will see what I can do to repair it, here's hoping.

Forecast for tomorrow is decent as well. Taupo calls...
